Whats a Podcast?
A podcast is a regularly-updated mp3 audio show that's been made available to listeners over the Internet in a way that allows scheduling and automatic downloading for listening at a later date.
This is accomplished through something called a syndicated RSS feed. To receive a podcast, you need a computer, an Internet connection, and podcasting software called an "aggregator." You will "subscribe" to podcasts using this software. Once subscribed, the software will download updated podcasts from all the feeds to which you're subscribed. You will then be able to listen from your computer, or you can transfer them to any portable mp3 player.
How to listen to Podcasts
Download podcast software (also known as "an aggregator"). An example of a popular aggregator is iPodder, a free download for both Mac and Windows. You can set your aggregator to pull down regular updates using the "Schedule" tab. Or to update manually, click on the "Check for New Podcasts" button and wait until the files have downloaded.
If you have the lastest versions of Apple iTunes or WMP, it will automatically create playlists from the downloaded shows. Shows can be played on your computer, or transferred to portable device, like an iPod, Creative Zen or iRiver.
What is The Journey into Trance Podcast?
Our podcast started in 2005 as a officially produced weekly radio show style podcast. It was completely separate from The Journey into Trance Show featured weekly on WHFR.FM in Detroit. However, after about a year of making shows, funds were low and and the show was chanced. The weekly radio show on WHFR.FM however continued on and has grown past out expectations in listeners and support. In July of 2008, chief producer and host of the Journey into Trance show, known as DJ BAM, decided to bring back the Journey into Trance Podcast due to the overwhelming success of the live radio show and former Journey into Trance Podcast. Starting in August 2008, the new Podcast will be unedited cuts of the Live Journey into Trance Radio show on WHFR.FM Shows featured in the Podcast will include live mixes and interviews with some of Detroit's best local DJ's spinning all forms of Electronic Music.
